ENCHANTING OOTY

Ooty is one of the splendid hill stations in India. It is situated 2240 metres above the sea level. Ooty’s cool climate attracts visitors from all over the world. It is a perfect getaway for those who seek fantastic lakes, silver cascades and sylvan forests making it a spectacular place for trekking and other adventures. Those who love to enjoy pure, unpolluted air, Ooty will be the suitable choice.
If you want to enjoy boat-riding, there are plenty of opportunities to do. You can even loiter around the lake or ride a horse. It is a favorite pastime.
There are two ways of transport to Ooty. Going to Ooty by train will be a thrilling experience because the train will chug through silent valleys, and serene lakes. The Railway station is in between the race course area and the lake. The main bazaar can be reached within a ten minutes walk Ooty’s main attraction cherring cross is only twenty minutes walk from the bazaar. If you are shop-a- holic commercial road will be the right choice. There you can buy tribal craft items, gold, silver and other knick-knacks.
Monsoon time is the suitable season for visiting Ooty. There will always be clouds. You can enjoy in the drizzling and watch the blooming wild flowers.
Where to go :-
There is a museum called, ‘The Tribal Research center’ which will take your breath away by exhibiting the life of tribal people including their rituals. The Botanical Gardens is another place not to be missed for its beautifully maintained exotic plants, very very old fossils.
The Stephen’s Church is also worth a visit. It was built in the year 1829 and it is the oldest in the Nilgris. You can forget yourself in the Mudumalai National park which has exotic flora and fauna.
Wellington is a beautiful valley located between Ooty and Coonoor. It is irtually a serene place which has to be admired for its beauty Kotagiri is 28 Kms from Ooty. It is the oldest hill station in this area which has tea gardens and Kota settlements.
So, next time when you think of visiting a hill station in India, do not ever forget to visit Ooty.
